I don't know about that. Just because we have the money to research diseases doesn't mean we'll have the knowledge to cure them. Or the knowledge and resources to travel to distant planets. It takes time as well as money, if we're ever even able to do it in the first place.

OP is suggesting we stay out of WW2 and let the Nazis go to town on the rest of the world. We'd all be conducting medical research in German without the aid of any Jewish scientists. So yeah... It isn't any of your business. You aren't God, so STFU!!!

The technology to reach other stars has been developed by the designing of a warp drive, though by moving space around one's self, masses of energy are gathered in the ellipse surrounding the ship and is all released the moment you stop. so the further you travel, the more energy is released, and whatever location you're traveling to is completely obliterated. Oh? You wanna travel to see Sirius B? Too bad you'd destroy it by getting there, and probably yourself along with it. You'd need to travel to an empty part of space, and still be too far from anything for it to be any good. We'd need to develop alternate faster than light travel for it to be effective

Or doing so we'd make more deadly diseases. Also, things like GPS, radar, Choclate, etc. Won't exist how they do today. Things would be completely different.

Who is We? If you mean the United States, England, Russia, or France, you'd all be speaking German right now. If you mean China, you'd be speaking Japanese. Just because you want to do something, doesn't mean everyone else wants to play along.

And all of that money was helping other countries that don't have armies because they expect us to protect them...

A multi million dollar mars orbiter was recently sent off and that's about the same amount of money the US is spending on ISIS at the moment so I feel that money is fairly equally (not always) spent it's just that war is more publicized than science

We're developed ion propulsion systems, we've developed theoretical warp drives. But they are just ideas and nothing practiced. To actually utilize them we need people acting as a whole not an individual nationality. Humans were meant to further explore the galaxy, not just Americans or just Russians or just any single ethnic group. Come together people. We can make a hell of a difference.

I AGREE!! Just like science & society would have been further advanced if the Church & Religion would not have delayed peoples ideas as WITCHCRAFT during the Dark Ages. I'm a Christian, and it's about a relationship with God, not religion. And that's where they got it wrong. Now we are trying to force peace on the world with extreme force and wasting money on wars that will NOT help humanity but destroy it. Instead of reaching for the stars & or taking care of the HUMAN race.

And maybe we could have even spelled traveled correctly...

Travelled is the correct way to spell it. It's another one of those 'colour' or 'color' things.

And the Brits spell most words different from the French. English is 40% French, 30% German, and the other 30 is a mix of anglo, gaelic, and other languages. Just because language is the same in different countries doesn't mean the spelling is the same. And just because it's not the way you spell it, doesn't mean its wrong... Color = Colour but doesn't equal kolor

Imperial English comes from Latin and German pronunciation rather than the Queens English.

Girlinwonderland, I never said traveled was incorrect either. They are both correct, and I'm not British, I'm Aussie. chs4esq, your argument makes no sense, English is English, it was influenced by other languages, but is not actually '40% French' and so on. Just like foreign languages have been influenced by English words, but I'd hardly say that (for instance) Japanese is 2% English just because it's borrowed words to describe things. The original guest is the one you should be annoyed at if you want to be annoyed at anyone, he was the one claiming that 'travelled' is incorrect, whereas I never said traveled was incorrect, just that travelled is also correct.

sorry just by the general sense of what you were saying I thought that you were implying that if travelled was correct then traveled was incorrect
