Live fed hamsters, mice and rats can and do kill/injure snakes kept in captivity. Better frozen.

When I was little I bought live feeder mice and kept them as pets because I would go home and cry for them, so my dad bought me some

Snake was hungry (hunger) and he wanted live food for the snake to play with/eat (games). Has nothing to do with the series hunger games, which is why you probably got confused.
