Okay, I'm going to say something that might be controversial here...but Loki is not looking for acceptance. He's a trickster, and he fools people into believing there is something more behind his quest for power. That's why people keep giving him second chances, they believe they can rehabilitate him or make him see the error of his ways.
I find game of thrones interesting, because Joffrey isn't really a villain. Game of thrones shows the perspective of all characters and allows people to draw their own conclusions about heroes and villains, but it's never straight up told you. Except every one hates the lannisters. Except tyrion, he's my favorite character
It's impossible not to read the second line of that when reading the first. People put gaps between the warning and the spoiler when they put them in comments.
