Its actually not that bad. They give you the option of using your real name or your current youtube sn. Or just make a google+ profile with your youtube sn

I don't want to change my Youtube user name. I spent a good hour thinking it up and now every time I log on to it, Google+ is there trying to change it no matter how many times I say no. Sometimes, if I haven't been on Youtube in a while, Google+ will automatically change it for me and I just get so frustrated.
