I think we need to differentiate between attention whores like this and people who are actually suicidal or self harming. If you are suicidal or self harming you are brave, just a different kind of brave to soldiers and of course soldiers are brave. You are brave if you live through the day with the kind of things that plague me and many other people, for me I can liken it to a civil war but within myself, for soldiers it's a war with very extreme physical and emotional effects, everybody should respect their bravery whereas for the suicidal and self harming their personal emotional struggle should be recognised and helped.
