Actually pedophilia is just people being gross, and contrary to actual mental illnesses wherein treatment like therapy or medicine can at least alleviate symptoms if not cure them altogether, these treatments are ineffective against pedophiles. And the ‘if you haven’t touched a kid it’s okay it’s how you are’ actually encourages online pedophile communities and drives demand for child porn (I know you mentioned that, but just letting you know that this is common rhetoric amongst pedophiles).
I think the actual drive behind pedophilia is a lot more complex than just ‘mental illness’ and that a combination of societal, neurological, and personal factors make up a pedophile. But to reduce it to ‘mental illness’ is cavalier....
