it isn't Barbara Gordon it's some childhood friend of Bruce Waynes. This dialogue is out of the Batman movie Mask of the Phantasm

So... This is how society works 32 comments

Who said world? It's more like multiple individual orders that collectivel control everything and bicker with each other, but you'll never get out from under all of them.
(I feel the need to specify I'm using 'you' in a plural sense here. That wasn't directed specifically at you)

Why is it still so popular? It's incredibly expensive and makes you smell bad 38 comments

Because all the badasses on tv and in movies smoke you're either the suave manipulative businessman lounging on an office chair in a suit smoking a cigar or you're the badass leather wearing motorcycle riding dude (or girl!) who don't take shit from anybody.

As a proud 'good at arts (English, History, Psychology, basically WORDS), bad at math (and science! Look at that societal 'you're stupid' combo)' student who took a logic course as an easy A, got an easy A for the entire first half only for my grades to tank as soon as we stopped thinking in words and started thinking in math (Seriously though. Probability theory: How the fuck does it work?) I can say that while it helps, you do not need to be good at Math to be clever or logical.

Here's the problem with your logic: English, History and Politics are considered 'arts' courses. History and English require intelligence, at least if you have a decent teacher. I will concede that with a terrible teacher History just becomes route memorization of stupid dates and facts and stuff. In a setting where intelligence is actually fostered, though, History is about the why we are where we are today and understanding the thought processes behind all sorts of people in all sorts of time periods and how those thought processes shaped our lives. You don't call 'understanding what kind of thinking led to what result' "pattern recognition"? English same deal, you have to expand your horizons and think beyond just your own narrow path. Even if you're right, how do you expect to convince anyone when you aren't willing to see exactly where their thought process went wrong? Math be more streamlined, it may be able to teach the core of logic, but it isn't the only way to learn logic.

I feel this all the time... Animal rights consistently have more people causing an uproar about them than human rights. and there are people justifying it with 'they're endangered! It's so much more important, there are seven billion of us!" Okay fine. But then how come I see the same thing with pets? People care way more about dogs stuck in abusive homes than children. It's sickening.

I kind of hate star wars but even I knew what Tatooine was. And I totally agree this should be the logo for the Star Wars movie, I love it. They hanged the castle in Maleficent, so why not?

Yes it is the Last Crusades, because you use the exact same logic. The least flashy, attention drawing, fancy button is the right button.

she told him she was ordering a pizza, probably used an online ordering service. He saw her picking actual pizza, so he looked away long enough for her to type that in the 'additional requests/comments' box

I would take the future ill, then use the effects of that pill to look into the future to see what combination of pills will give me the best outcome in the long run.

This is ridiculous. I just.... I wanted to make a reasoned argument here but the fat that the comments are mostly supporting this Cloyd person makes me angry so I've deleted my argument because it came out too confrontationally.
