A lot of these are misinformed or just dangerous.
1.The hot water makes the splinter swell, making removal easier. Steam also won't cause "suction", that's why tins of food will explode if placed unvented over heat.
2.Anything placed in salt will continue to be exposed to air. Salt is a natural preservative due to it's dehydrating of microorganisms. That's why the eggs stay fresh.
3.If a dog is mad (rabid), back away slowly, no sudden movements. A kick won't stop it, you either have to kill it or hope it freaks out on something else.
4.DO NOT TOUCH OR GET NEAR SOMEONE BEING ELECTROCUTED! Even with rubber gloves or layers of dry cloth, you'll probably be electrocuted. Get a long wooden pole and try to knock the wire away or push the victim out of danger (be careful where you step!).
5. Don't drink water cleaned with a homemade filter unless it's life-or-death. It's what these filters can't remove that will kill you.
