I love the snake. What a great dad! Hopefully I will do something like this when I have kids, some day.

THIS! I would gladly give up my parade if I had rights, security, acceptance, and validation. That's the whole point of the parade!

What I'm saying is, yeah, they can have a parade, but I hate the fact that they're saying that if they don't have a parade, then nobody should get to have one. You're not making the right connections. It's more like saying "If gays can't get married, than NOBODY should get to be married!" We're not saying that. We just want to have nice things, just as straights do.
You guys have your unconditional acceptance and validation, just let us have our parade. You can have your god damn parade if you want it that badly, fine. But you're missing the point. It's not just to have rainbows and run around, it's to defend our rights and socialize with others like us. Straights tend to not have rights that need defending.

Exactly. Like Guest said, it's not a giant therapy for people and their issues. What we do is we walk and have fun with our friends, we have fun, and we show our true colors without fear of judgement. Straight people can do thay any day. Pride is very special for us, because it's the one place that we aren't even slightly afraid of anything. It's nice to be able joy ourselves with the few that are like us as well.
Straight people, believe it or not, ARE doing fine. At least in the sense of sexuality. They don't need a parade to be themselves and socialize with others like them. And to be honest, it just sounds quite selfish when you say that either everyone should have a pride parade, or nobody gets a pride parade. Can we just enjoy the one good thing we have to enjoy without you guys shitting on it?

"Transitioned to being gay"? Bitch, I was born this way! You can change your religion, but I can't change how I am. People can make me get a boyfriend and make me a person I'm not, but I will never be happy. I cannot live a life I don't truly lead inside myself. I just came back from a pride parade with my girlfriend, and it's the happiest I've ever been in months. I saw so many people, smiling and cheering, holding hands with their partners and waving all sorts of colorful flags in the air. It's a sight that truly takes your breath away. Nobody can take away that happiness from us. We don't need your judgement or opinions, because we are strong and we have pride inside our hearts.

You guys are misdefining 'Pride'. Yes, I get it's what it's generally defined as, but gay pride isn't about being proud, necessarily. It's about showing that we matter in a world that wants to silence us, and we will not hide and be afraid of hateful people. It's not 'real pride', in a sense.
@trashmanrevenge it's not a life choice! We are fucking born this way! Everyone should have pride inside themselves for their sexuality or gender, and if they don't, it's because of the hateful views forced on them. Have you ever seen someone who hated the fact they were straight? No. Have you seen the same for a gay person? Yes! That's why we need gay pride!

People tend to accept straight people easily, though. Heterosexuality is the norm in society. You can do whatever you want, that's fine, have your parades and your pride months. It's a bit redundant, but I honestly just don't care. I just want to be validated. It's not about the parades and the pride months, it's the love and acceptance that comes from it.

The radical side of Tumblr can easily be ignored. I mean, I hate that side of Tumblr too, but honestly, you can just block and ignore them.
I don't care about a spotlight. I don't even want one. I just want to be cared for, validated, and accepted. When straight people demand parades, they're missing the point. The point isn't attention or trying to be better than others. The point is to be yourself and love who you are, and show those who don't accept you that aren't afraid, or going to change. I mean, I'm trying to picture a straight parade, but it's not working. I just can't realisticly see men and women holding hands, playing straight music, and waving their black and white flags around. I just don't see the point, other than them wanting attention. Can you give me a realistic reason for them to have a pride month or parade other than "they should get to have the same things gays do"? Please enlighten me. I'm not trying to sound rude, but I actually can't see a reason.

Have you seen tumblr? There are so many demands from SJWs and anti-SJWs alike.
I don't understand why they need a month. Straight people are great and need to be appreciated, but I have never seen someone oppressed for being straight. Pride isn't exactly about being 'proud', it's more to show that we stand strong and cannot be silenced. It doesn't take away us, I agree, but I see no point in it. It's like wanting a hospital for healthy people, or a soup kitchen for people who have food. It seems to just be for attention.
I see straight people demanding parades and pride weeks/months, but honestly, I don't think that would work out. Based on the pride parades I've been to, the central idea is having fun and showing the message "I can love my partner without your judgement." Look inside yourself. Would that work out for straight people? I get they want to have fun, but I don't understand why they want parades and a designated month. They already have every other waking moment.

Gay ppl got a whole month what straight people got? The other 11 fucking months.
On a side note, why do /some/ straight people constantly demand parades, a pride month, etc etc? It's like wanting the blue spiky shell when you're in 1st place in Mario Kart.
