Australia's best weatherman before he left my local station to go national. 3 comments

People with a great sense of humour, who find themselves in the role of local TV weathermen, are in a perfect position to exploit their gifts-a built-in audience with the freedom to colour outside the edges, a freedom that the news presenters don't enjoy. Dave Letterman and Pat Sajak are probably the most successful former weathermen, but I remember more than one of our local ones who were kind of a draw because of their shenanigans.

Great way to bring it onboard. If she doesn't die from alcohol poisoning, she'll be decanting that cognac into a wax paper carafe in short order. How elegant!

If John Wick used a shoe, this woman would have been the one that taught him how. An instantaneous and seamless assessment, reaction and delivery. They never had a chance.

If you like this image, you can find some interesting day and night walking tours set in Osaka at Wind Walk Travel videos on YouTube. They have multiple walking tours of various neighbourhoods and are a great way to get a sense of the place.

Here's an overview of the subject, supposedly from a state perspective. Found it while looking for a series of books about an assassin who specializes in making them look like natural causes.(John Rain in books written by Barry Eisler)

Love that this has become a thing. The animals get some extra stimulation, the zoos get the PR and we get charming images like this.

The tweet was posted recently, so that 13 year lag would rule out Obama, so it must have been Bush junior.

How not to run a website 2 comments

You can also do a search for disposable email accounts that last from 10 minutes to 2 days. During that period you can check in to receive and respond to queries and then just walkway. I remember one from a few years back, that went as far a providing a name and physical address that read as legit.

Evidently you don't need to be a Hulk stunt double to eat a 72 oz steak. Just the other day I was surprised to see a relatively tiny, 5'2" woman's physique bodybuilder, devour a 72 oz. steak, baked potato, shrimp cocktail, roll and side salad in just under 41 minutes of the allotted 1 hour time limit. Seek out Katina Eats Kilos. Her stomach is obviously operating on the same principle as Doctor Who's Tardis.

I think a lot has to do with the insurance companies covering their asses by refusing to cover you if there's a chance that negligence can be shown. Even then, insurance companies will charge through the roof. Many smaller towns are getting rid of playground equipment because they can't afford the liability insurance.
Cat Discovers It Has Ears 6 comments

That cat is special. My dog will incessantly bark at any 4 legged mammal on TV-cat, dog, horse, cow, bear, whatever. Even stylized logos/silhouettes of animals or their faces will earn a never-ending barrage of barks as long as they dare to remain onscreen, but both he and the two cats are absolutely indifferent to their own reflections, which, in retrospect, is probably a good thing.

Just to clarify, it wasn't a traditional manhole cover. It was a 4 inch thick, 1000 lb cap that was welded shut to cover the access tunnel of the 400 foot deep shaft dug for the underground nuclear bomb test.

What’s the Story, Wishbone 4 comments

It was a great way to get kids interested in the classics. Wishbone was primarily played by Soccer, but there were four other dogs involved. He had Slugger and Shiner as stunt doubles, with Phoebe doing the swimming scenes and Bear doing public photos.

A well crafted and absolutely reasonable response from the side that ripped Pete Davidson a new asshole for daring to make a throwaway joke about Dan Crenshaw's missing eye, but has said nothing about Tucker Carlson characterizing Purple Heart awarded, double amputee, Afghan combat vet, Senator Tammy Duckworth, as a coward and hater of America. Guess there's idiots and hypocrites on both sides.
