For context, painting white stripes on dark animals was done during the Blitz in the second world war to help drivers avoid hitting them. Most streetlight were switched off or shaded to minimise the chances of enemy bombers being able to detect the light

I suspect they'd say it's about raising awareness
Might have the opposite effect tho. Not good PR, as it makes them look irrational and destructive, which makes me less sympathetic to their cause
